Torn between love

Posted by anonymous at December 6, 2011
Tags: 2011 December  Loneliness  Relationship

Being caught between a long-distance relationship and my sense of obligation to family is pulling my life apart. I love both my girlfriend and family. My grandmother is now living alone with my uncle and is feeling very lonely after grandfather passed away recently. Sometimes when I am with my girlfriend, I feel that I shall accompany and take care of my grandmother. Vice versa, when I am with my family, I feel that I am neglecting my girlfriend. I always tell myself to treasure the time spent with both my girlfriend and family but there is no practical way to be with both of them physically for long period of time. This has manifested into some agonising, suffocating guilt. Life goes on and soon the financial expectation of both girlfriend and family will only get larger and perhaps untenable. The future is bleak.

That is not too bad. Your grandmother and your uncle are your family and part of your life forever. Your girlfriend is a girlfriend who lives far away. No offense, but you can find another girlfriend closer to your home. There is always another relationship around the corner when one ends. Now if this girlfriend is someone you want to marry, then pursue that and make a decision. But whining about something that is not really a problem when there are so many people on this sight with really serious problems is lame.

I was in this situation but on your GF side....It's hard when you cannot see the person you love because of family. Eventually she will realise.....why not ask your gf to stay around your so you get to spend time with both.
