I used to suffer from this disorder when I was 16-19 years old. Luckily nobody teased me about it. The only way to surpass this anxiety is to mingle with some crowd (doesn't matter if you know this people or not). At first you will feel terrible. Your heartbeat rate will increase and your breathing too. You may feel sick also but if you work hard on solving this anxiety you will succeed. Also be patient it may take years of hard work but in the end you will succeed.
Same thing happened to me and my parents did nothing about it. I didn't take any pills to calm me down so I had to suffer those anxiety attacks for years :(
