Life.

I've been thinking about life a lot lately and I realized that society dictates so much about how every individual should live. You "should" have a job, you "should" get married, you "should" go to school. But who cares, sometimes you have to remember that no one in reality can tell you what to do. Enjoy the little things because often times we are so distracted by all of the BS in society that we forget about how amazing and awesome life is. We are just lucky to be on such an amazing planet; it has life everywhere, which is a miracle within itself. Go out and go swimming, or go outside and just wonder and take in everything that's out there. Roam around and look at everything, don't take anything for granted. Buildings, cars, trees, bugs, sand, dirt, computers, lakes, mountains all of it is AWESOME! You don't need money, or wealth or status to see that. Just know life is awesome. We live in an unbelievable era too because we are on the verge of the future. Think of how everything is going to so rapidly develop since we have advancing technology now. Soon anything will be possible and luckily we were here on the brink of it. The technology we have now is just the tip of the iceberg. That's amazing too. So go out, screw anyone that tells you NO. They're the losers. If you value everything that's going on in the world, the special things you have more than millions of people have and really you don't need anything to have that. Do that, become happy, and the friends, the money, the life society makes out to be great will all follow.

I love the way you think!! It reflects how I feel and I want so much more in my life, full ofnmeaning and happiness

problem is the trees, bugs, lakes, mountains are all being destroyed by this wonderful, "future" we work like ants to bring about. i love reading about hunter/gatherer's. I sometimes wish i was born in a different time or place where i had a simpler life that was grounded in community, instead of the dehumanizing anonymity of modern existence. Honestly though this is probably a romanticized pastoralist fantasy that would dissolve the minute i had to wipe my ass with a pine cone.
Nobody has ever accused me of being an optimist but i really think that we are no different than the virus that proliferates until the point that it kills it's host, and thereby ensures it's own exinction. we are an evolutionary dead end, unable to evolve beyond our own selfish instincts, those instincts have basically condemned the planet to death. Even if the environmental problems don't kill us, or the rampant overpopulation, it's just a matter of time before nuclear conflict breaks out. It's amazing we have lived so long under this sword of Damocles. Look at all the madmen running this world. it's just a shame that we are going to take most of the planet's lifeforms with us.

Like a cancer consumes whatever it infects, so shall this earth wither and die, and us; the cancer of the earth, with it.

My question is- why does any of the bad matter? Sure, we'll all probably kill ourselves off within the next fifty to a hundred years, but does it honestly make any real difference if you choose to live life and enjoy it as much as possible in the moment? Become happy with yourself, become centered in yourself and life may take on a different shade.

Also - if you honestly believe the world is going all to hell, why not choose to change it? One person at a time, make the world a better place. "Well one person can't do anything!" I hear the pessimist say.

"Yes, but what if EVERY-one person chose to change the world. What then?" I reply.

Dark thoughts help no one, especially not yourself. The only thing to do that makes any sense is to stop worrying about the future and to simply live in the now. If everyone did this the world would be a much better place.

Peace and long life

Pessimism And optimism are just different ways of viewing the world. Neither is more realistic than the other. Death is natural, and will come to all that inhabit this world. Honestly, I can't think of a better way to die than knowing that I would have the honor of being one of the last generations to live on the earth. I'm glad we're killing ourselves off this planet, I hope the super volcano in yellowstone erupts and engulfs this world in ash and fire and that I might witness that final, monumental moment in the history of mankind. We live in such an artificial, and bleak world. We can talk about how great life is, but I don't think we can really relate to it anymore, we've become so centered around the artificial that life in it's purest forms no longer matters.

Whilst i appreciate the sentiment and general tone of your post, i would have to disagree with you about how exciting our future technology might be. Apart from the fact that our planet has become overpopulated with human beings, technology will almost single handedly destroy this planet because we are taking it too far. I believe you have to find a medium with it. Now dont get me wrong, i appreciate the fact that i am using a computer, i like watching films, listening to music on a handheld device, this was foreign to people 100-150 years ago and yes you could argue that technology has given us a many great things. But, i look around myself now and wonder. I remember what things used to look like, and how life was like 10, and even 20 years ago. I certainly dont believe that any of it has made us happier which is surely the most important thing in life, probably even more important than your health,(whats the point of being healthy if your not happy?)The trees and lakes you talk about, they make way for the buildings and cars, and for what. So we can watched some caffeine riddled, steroid infused hyped up fuckwit drive around in his luxury car which pollutes the environment, which he was only able to afford by being an asshole and stepping over others, whilst he lives in an apartment block that dominates the skyline, detracting from the worlds natural beauty and was probably once land containing many great trees and maybe even a lake. Now thats a fairly extreme example, but i guess you get the point. I for one dont want this planet to look like The Jetsons or even worse Book of Eli or even worse The Matrix in 50 years time. These people who run the world need to wake the fuck up. Im just a shitkicker,in this life. Not in a position to get anything done. You can look at that and debate it any way you want but thats the reality of it.
There are however, people in the position to do something about these problems. But they dance to the sound of a different tune than we do. So diluted in their own little worlds, never seeing the bigger picture.

There are indeed many great things about life. Sex, family, friends if you have any are some of them. However, technology has been a blessing and a curse on society. It has made life more complicated in some ways, and much more expensive. I hope your sunny outlook on life becomes my way of thinking some day. But damn, humans are a disappointing bunch. I love my family but the world outside is really, ugh. Planet Earth and humans disgust me at times. I love my weed though, and because of weed, I can look at the world very sunny at times. Otherwise, the world is all about money and more money. What a shame.
