What is the meaning of life, anyway?

Yeah, it sure could be worse, but lately I'm wondering why life has to be one great, big kick in the ass. I've had a run of bad luck and am sick and just found out I have high blood pressure. The worst thing of all is that my cat disappeared. Some people would say "Oh, boo hoo! Deal with it." I'm trying, but being deeply bereaved does not help the other things. I love cats and I wonder if God is trying to tell me not to have any more. The last one died. I had her twelve years, a pretty good run, but the one before that disappeared just like this one. I've only had Max for a little over three months. He was my companion. It's such good therapy to come home after a suck-ass day at work and be greeted by a warm body that wants to be around me. The thing I wonder about God is does he think that's misplaced love? Like I should love a person as much as I love cats? Well, I've already tried that and that was a freaking disaster. It's a whole lot safer loving cats. Can anybody out there tell me anything to convince me that this life is worth living?

Well if you do decide to get another cat I strongly recommend keeping it indoors only. I have 2 cats and they are strictly house cats. The world is simply too dangerous- they could get run over by a car or get into a deadly fight with another animal. Of the people I know who let their cats roam freely they almost always eventually leave one day and never come back. Most of the time you never know what terrible fate has befallen them. I view my cats like children, you wouldn't let children roam around the world unsupervised.

I used to have 3 cats but one died last Thanksgiving so I understand your loss. This cat became mysteriously ill and passed away. They do become like family and I miss my little friend but life goes on. If you get another cat, keep it indoors. Good luck.

don't listen to the idiot who suggests killing yourself. try writing, making music, painting, walking in the forest, listening to the ocean, watching children laughing...beauty is all around you, and love and friendship will come your way, even if only in small numbers. it is quality of love, not quantity that matters. And get another cat, and take the advice of having it be an indoor pet, with supervised outings.

that's it? You just have high blood pressure, take a pill, exercise and go on a diet and your cat ran away? It's a cat which yeah they're cute and all but totally independent little freaks who often go to the nearest food dish or under the nearest car. Get a grip woman you're not dying, you haven't even had a run of bad luck, two things you call that a run, get a life.....and why would you post on here expecting anything but ridicule!

well, any major attachments you have are taken away from you, not as a punishment, just as a lesson to teach you to not to be so attached. Why? Because if you are attached to living things, you will become sad, why? Because everything dies eventually, no matter how careful you are, even if they outlive you, they will go one day. That is the only certain thing on earth, and that is CHANGE.

I am a firm believer that if you are not leading the life you are supposed to be leading, the same scenarios will occur again and again until YOU make the crucial changes and LEARN from the situation presented.

So in this case, you can either, keep getting cats, and when they die, accept it, OR, you can try and get in a relationship with someone and see how that goes, maybe put your life on a new path, give it a go and see what happen> GOd helps those who help themselves. He who dares, wins, etc etc.

Just because you had one bad experience with a person doesn't mean the next one will be, there are good people out there, and you haven't met everyone yet.

Start jogging or join a gym, eat more vegetables cut out junk food and alcohol for a while, and your blood pressure will go down, this I guarantee. Exercise makes you feel great. Eventually you will want to work out on a regular basis, it's not easy at first, but eventually you will get to a point where you are fit and you love to be active. I can guarantee this, if you make it a habit.

every day is an opportunity to experience something new, so whilst we are here on earth, why not treat every day as a fresh clean slate, forget your past. Everyday is filled with potential of what you could do, what you could achieve, be grateful for the opportunity you have. even if it is something like baking a cake for someone and making them smile. Help others, volunteer. It will also put your problems into perspective.
