OK, my suggestion is to get your friendship back, however,
as you know, girls can be really nasty. Which means, his girl friend and her little friends will try to make your life miserable,not only that, you know one of them will try to start a fight for no reason. The question is how will you handle all of that. As you know,there will be drama and a lot of it. What you will need to do is to talk to your friend, maybe away from school until the two of you can figure out this "friendship". My only question is how does he really feel about you. Does he want to be more than friends, or is he part of the problem. Figure this stuff out. P.S. Don't let any of those girls trick you into going into the bathroom to talk or meeting them somewhere to talk, you don't want them to "jump you" and put it on the net. I am not trying to scare you, but the reality is that young girls are no longer gentle little girls. I wish you the best, but also, I really hope you can share this with your parents and get their take on this.

I have to concur, don't give up on a friend that was so much a part of your life. The similarity in the comments is amazing, but I would add one thing. Approach his girlfriend when the two of them are together, explain to her that you never had any intention of coming between them. I'll bet she has a few guy friends that she leans on when times get tough.
If you are sincere she will believe you and the rumors will fall by the wayside.

in all honesty you miss him like crap because you loved him, so the girlfriend was right in not wanting you around him. In all honesty the feelings were probably mutual on his part as well.

Heterosexual males and females cant be friends, there will always be some sort of sexual attraction. Unless one is much uglier then the other, then the ugly one just ends up loving the pretty one and gets their heart ripped out.
